Lance currently focuses on Conveyancing and Commercial Law. He grew up on a farm near Cradock in the Eastern Cape in a bilingual English and Afrikaans household. He attended boarding school from Grade 1 through to matric, completing his schooling at Marlow Agricultural High School.
He went on to obtain his LLB at North-West University in Potchefstroom, where he was invited to join the Golden Key Honour Society, recognising his academic performance in the top 15% of law students. He also completed a Certificate in Entrepreneurship during his time at university. Lance served his articles at Symington de Kok Attorneys in Bloemfontein and was admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer in the Bloemfontein High Court in March 2025.
He achieved the highest national marks in the conveyancing examination. After his admission, Lance returned to his family's farm to gain practical experience in the agricultural sector before joining Van Wyk Van Heerden Attorneys in October 2025.
