Mzo served his articles at Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs in 2003, practiced as an associate in the finance department and left in 2006. Between 2009 and 2014 Mzo was an in-house legal advisor to Tamela Holdings, an investment holding company based in Johannesburg. Between 2007 and 2009, Mzo was a legal advisor to Makalani Holdings, a whole owned subsidiary of the First Rand Group, a formerly listed fund which was focused on provision of equity funding for transactions in various sectors of the economy.
