History:

Jon Bax was born in East London on 30 April 1947. Jon attended Selborne Primary and St Andrews College, Grahamstown, whereafter he did articles in Cape Town where he also attended Cape Town University. He returned to East London in 1970 and went into Partnership in the firm Randell & Bax.

In 1976 the firm amalgamated with Addelson, Kirk & Moolman and Norton Gayle & Kingon others to form the The Bax Partnership and is currently a director of Bax Kaplan Mbandazayo

Jon has concentrated in Property, Contract and Municipal Law and it is in those fields that he mainly conducts his practice

During the late 1980’s he branched into Labour Law in which he took an interest and became involved in the practice of Alternative Dispute Resolution through the Independent Mediation Service of South Africa (IMSSA) and served as Chairman of the East Cape Regional Advisory Board to IMSSA, and was a Trustee on the National Board of Trustees of IMSSA

Jon is a past member of the East London Attorneys Association and by way of extra-curriculum activities is a member of the Beacon Bay Rotary Club having served as President in 1987/88. He is also a founder member and Trustee of the Community and Child Development Centre. Having taken an interest in education he was a member of the Governing Body of Stirling High School and a past executive member of Border Swimming. Jon is married to Pam and has four children.
