During Sheryl's involvement in the legal field for over 25 years she has gained vast experience in several aspects of the Law. Special attention has been given to divorce and family law matters as well as to divorce and family mediation.
Sheryl strongly believes that mediation is the way to cater for the many sensitive issues involving the whole family around the trauma of a divorce situation or a separation. The lower costs involved assist the parties’ financially as opposed to a defended divorce matter. Above all, mediation is far less acrimonious if the parties’ are committed to the process. Both parties are heard and are able to settle their matters with dignity. Sheryl adopts a holistic approach to resolving conflict regarding the various issues which may arise by including other professionals to assist with the mediation process such as social workers, psychologists and financial professionals. In this way the parties and their children are accommodated in a practical and meaningful way.
Besides attending to divorce matters in both the Regional and the High Courts including Settlement Agreements and Parenting Plans which are endorsed by the Family Advocates office, Sheryl represents clients with general litigation matters in the Magistrates’ Courts and the High Courts.
Antenuptial Contracts and Wills are prepared for clients after carefully considering their special needs.
Sheryl offers assistance with the preparation of Hague Convention Applications for the return of children who have been wrongfully abducted internationally.
Sheryl has completed 2 courses in Legal Mediation and an Advanced Psychology Mediation course with FAMSA where she mediates pro bono. She is accredited with NABFAM.
