During Sheryl's involvement in the legal profession for over 30 years she has gained vast experience in several aspects of Family Law. Special attention has been given to divorce and family law matters as well as to divorce and family mediation.
Besides attending to divorce matters including Agreements of Settlement and Parenting Plans endorsed by the Family Advocates office, Sheryl attends to edictal citations, applications for the relocation of minor children nationally and internationally and offers assistance with Hague Convention Applications for the return of children who have been wrongfully abducted internationally.
Antenuptial Contracts and Wills are prepared for clients after carefully considering their individual needs.
Sheryl has completed 2 courses in Legal Mediation and an Advanced Psychology Mediation course with FAMSA and is accredited with NABFAM. She advocates mediation and strongly believes that in viable circumstances mediation is the way to cater for the many sensitive issues involving the whole family around the trauma of a divorce situation or separation. The lower costs involved in mediating divorce matters also assist the parties financially as opposed to defended divorce actions. Above all, mediation is far less acrimonious if the parties are committed to the process. Both parties are heard and are able to settle their matters with dignity. Sheryl adopts a holistic approach to resolving conflict regarding the various issues which may arise by including other professionals to assist with the mediation process such as social workers, psychologists and financial professionals when necessary. In this way the parties and their children are accommodated in a practical and meaningful way.
“Motivated by Passion. Driven by Results” portrays Sheryl's commitment to her clients. Her success in her own practice in Sandton is built on referrals, results and the personal attention which she provides to her clients.
Tracy Going, an award-winning former TV and radio news anchor on ” Morning Live”, a primetime news anchor for Radio Metro and Kaya FM and author in her book “Brutal Legacy’’ honours Sheryl in her Acknowledgements by stating…”thank you for being the best..” referring to when Sheryl represented her in her legal matters regarding events contained in her book.
