I am a Family Law attorney, qualified mediator, lecturer, and legal educator with over 30 years of experience. Based in Fourways, my boutique firm is dedicated exclusively to Family and Matrimonial Law, assisting clients through some of the most challenging and emotional periods of their lives.
After graduating from the University of Cape Town in 1992, I completed my articles under the guidance of a leading Gauteng matrimonial lawyer and was admitted as an attorney in 1996. Whilst being a small firm, my practice offers all clients an expert service, but with the added benefit of being personally responsible for your important affairs.
You can expect the utmost respect for your private matters, an extremely high level of professionalism, efficiency, relaxing and comfortable surroundings, and affordable rates. Remember, we are here to 'serve u'... We look forward to being of service.
My Approach & Mediation Services
My approach to practice is centred on professionalism, compassion, practical guidance, and providing clients with personal and efficient service in a supportive environment. I am a qualified mediator and strongly believe in assisting families to resolve disputes constructively and cost-effectively wherever possible, without resorting to lengthy litigation.
I have received specialised training regarding the involvement of children during mediation. In complex family matters, I regularly work alongside psychologists and social workers, and co-mediate with various professionals to ensure holistic and child-focused outcomes. Furthermore, I maintain strong professional relationships with the Family Advocate and Families South Africa (FAMSA), and I regularly consult with law firms requiring assistance in specialised Family Law matters, often providing support on a pro bono basis.
Legal Education, Mentorship & Thought Leadership
Beyond practice, legal education and mentorship are among my greatest passions. I lectured in Family Law and Advanced Family Law for nine years at one of South Africa’s leading universities. Currently, I lecture for the Gawie Le Roux Institute, LEAD schools across several provinces, and leading Big 5 law firms in South Africa. I also assist Candidate Legal Practitioners with admission examination preparation, have redrafted course content for LEAD, present Family Law workshops for corporates, and mentor university students.
I am regularly interviewed on the radio and contribute to podcasts and articles on Family Law topics, including Rule 43 applications and unmarried fathers’ rights. I have also edited two e-books: Surviving Articles — a practical guide for Candidate Legal Practitioners; and I Did But I’m Done by Danielle Hayward — a comprehensive South African divorce guide.
