Lesai Seema

Lesai is a qualified attorney known for his strong communication skills and strategic, lateral thinking. He joined Cullinan & Associates as an associate in 2023 and was appointed as a director in March 2025. Before joining the firm, he trained as a litigation lawyer at a leading Johannesburg firm, where he gained experience in commercial and criminal litigation.

Lesai’s experience includes managing oil & gas appeals and litigation, advising individual, non-profit and corporate clients on regulatory accountability (e.g. providing due diligence reports). His work further includes acting as external legal counsel for global NPOs.

Beyond his legal practice, Lesai is actively involved in eco-jurisprudential initiatives, including Antarctic Rights, shaping the future of environmental law and governance. As a commentator on polar governance, he writes a column for Daily Maverick, exploring the intersections of law, science, governance and human responsibility.
