History:

Grant Trent is a legal professional whose career is defined by an extraordinary 28-year tenure within the South African Police Service (SAPS). Having spent the vast majority of those decades serving as a detective, Grant has navigated the front lines of the justice system, gaining an "insider" perspective that few in the legal field can claim. This deep-rooted investigative background in Uvongo and Margate allows him to approach every case with the strategic eye of a seasoned investigator, ensuring his clients benefit from a representative who understands exactly how the state builds its arguments.

Grant’s transition from law enforcement to the Bar was marked by the same dedication that defined his police career. He earned his LLB (Honours) from UNISA in 2014 and subsequently completed his pupillage at the National Bar Council of South Africa. After successfully passing the National Bar Examination in 2017, he was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. This academic and professional journey provided him with a sophisticated mastery of courtroom litigation and high-level legal strategy, which he initially utilised as a practicing Advocate specialising in Criminal Law.

In 2024, Grant chose to evolve his practice further to provide more direct and personalised support to his community, converting from an Advocate to an Attorney. By establishing Grant Trent Attorneys Incorporated, he combined the tactical instincts of a detective with the specialist skills of a High Court practitioner. This dual perspective is particularly formidable in Criminal Defence, where he can scrutinise police dockets for procedural errors and inconsistencies that others might overlook, providing his clients with a robust and proactive defence.

Beyond the courtroom, Grant is a compassionate advocate for families and individuals navigating the complexities of Family Law, Labour Law, and Civil Litigation. He understands that legal disputes—whether they involve divorce, unfair dismissal, or Road Accident Fund (RAF) claims—carry significant emotional weight. Grant applies a result-driven and professional approach to these matters, aiming to simplify the legal process for his clients while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency.

Today, Grant stands as a trusted legal partner on the South Coast, offering a unique blend of "boots-on-the-ground" experience and senior legal expertise. His mission is to protect the rights of his clients by delivering practical solutions that are as cost-effective as they are ethically sound. Whether he is negotiating a settlement or representing a client in the High Court, Grant Trent remains steadfast in his commitment to achieving the best possible outcome through dedication, clarity, and an unparalleled understanding of the law.
