Tiaan Koch

I started my legal journey in 2018, realising a life-long dream of entering the legal world. In the beginning of 2020, I was successfully admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

The complexity, excitement and ever-changing nature of our law ensures that there is always something new to learn and knowledge to absorb. I am passionate about Family Law and started my journey as a Criminal Law, General Litigation and Family Law Attorney.

Family Law is unique as there is an unmatched satisfaction in ensuring justice for some of our country’s most vulnerable residents and working towards achieving fairness and protection when two parties, who have built a life together, suddenly face the enormous task of breaking it apart.

Practising law in both English and Afrikaans, I studied in English after attending Afrikaans schools in my younger years.

In addition to the above, I also have extensive experience in Criminal Law, Company Law, Contract Law, Insurance Law and Family Law. I enjoy appearing in court, presenting well-reasoned arguments and engaging in respectful battles with opposing attorneys and advocates.

Children are often the most affected when two parties enter the turmoil of divorce and ensuring that they are protected, looked after and cared for makes my career worth every second.

When not immersed in legal research and preparation, I am usually to be found in the kitchen, experimenting with new recipes for delicious meals, or in the library, diving into written works of fiction and non-fiction alike.

I also greatly enjoy nature hikes, off-road cycling and swimming.
