History:
Jessica completed her LLB degree at the University of Johannesburg in 2014 and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2017.
She began her legal career as an articled clerk at a Johannesburg law firm, where she gained valuable experience across several key practice areas, including conveyancing, family law, and civil litigation. Following the completion of her articles and her admission as an attorney, she was retained as a Junior Associate, further refining her skills in litigation and client advisory work.
In October 2017, Jessica joined Hugh Raichlin Attorneys as a Professional Assistant. Over the years, she has developed a strong and diverse practice and now focuses primarily on:
- Family Law: Advising and representing clients in divorce, maintenance, custody and parental rights disputes, including both opposed and unopposed matters. Experienced in drafting settlement agreements, parenting plans and antenuptial contracts, with a strong focus on practical, child-centred outcomes.
- Commercial and Civil Litigation: Acting for individuals and businesses in Magistrates’ Court and High Court litigation, including contractual disputes, debt recovery, damages claims and general civil matters. Regularly advises clients on dispute strategy, risk mitigation and resolution.
- Estate Planning: Assisting clients with comprehensive estate planning solutions, including the drafting of wills, structuring of estates and succession planning to ensure asset protection, tax efficiency and clarity for future generations.
- Deceased Estates: Providing guidance and administration services for deceased estates, including reporting to the Master of the High Court, liaising with executors and beneficiaries, and ensuring estates are wound up efficiently and in compliance with legal requirements.
- Registration of Trusts: Advising on the establishment and registration of trusts, including the drafting of trust deeds and submission to the Master of the High Court, with a focus on asset protection, estate planning and long-term family or business structures.
