Slindokuhle Ngwenya

Slindokuhle Ngwenya is a partner in the Maritime, Insurance, and International Trade Law Practice at Cox Yeats. She specialises in maritime, insurance and international trade law, with a particular focus on marine insurance, shipping litigation and logistics claims across both sea and land.

She has extensive experience advising South African insurers on policy responses, policy defences and recoveries. Her practice includes representing cargo owners, shipowners and their insurers in complex maritime, marine insurance and commercial litigation.

Slindokuhle has significant experience in maritime-related matters, including demurrage and detention disputes, ship arrests, in rem and security arrests, as well as complex associated ship arrest proceedings.

She has been recognised by the Legal 500 for her expertise in shipping and transport law.

Slindokuhle joined Cox Yeats in 2019 and was promoted to partner in March 2025.

She is a member of the Maritime Law Association of South Africa, the Durban Marine Insurance Association and the Insurance Institute of KwaZulu-Natal.
