History:

Tamryn is a partner in the Maritime, Insurance and International Trade Law Practice of Cox Yeats. She joined the Firm in 2012 and has practised as an admitted attorney in South Africa since 2014. Tamryn was appointed a Partner at the Firm on 1 March 2017.

Tamryn specialises in all aspects of maritime, insurance and international trade law, with particular emphasis on marine insurance, customs and excise and shipping and insurance litigation. Tamryn has advised clients on a range of marine, insurance and international trade issues including international sale, logistics and shipping agreements, standard trading terms and conditions and bespoke agreements and disputes that arise pursuant thereto. She has also represented clients in litigation proceedings in respect of cargo recovery claims, ship arrests, vessel collision claims, marine fires and investigations pertaining to serious claims and disputes on charterparty agreements. She has also represented clients in Port Regulatory proceedings and assisted with the submissions to the Department of Transport in respect of legislative updates and amendments affecting the ship repair and building industry.

Tamryn’s insurance practice includes marine insurance, fire and complex claims, general insurance work and casualty response. She assists and advises a number of insurers in respect of policy responses, policy defences and complex indemnity claims and recoveries.

Tamryn is the National Treasurer and an Executive member of the Maritime Law Association of South Africa. She is a Trustee of the Stephen Wallace Maritime Law Trust.  She is also a member of the Durban Marine Insurance Association and the Insurance Institute of KwaZulu-Natal.
