History:
Mr. Richards is a Director and Co-Founder of Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Pretoria and is admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
He further obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Commercial Law, as well as a Certificate in Advanced Labour Law with distinction, from the University of South Africa. Following his admission as an attorney, Mr Richards joined KPMG as a Legal Advisor, where he gained extensive experience in financial legal matters, commercial law, and corporate law. He later served as Group Legal Advisor at Primedia Unlimited, specialising in commercial, corporate, competition, labour, marketing, and media law.
Mr Richards has extensive expertise in corporate and commercial law, with particular focus on commercial transactions, information technology law, intellectual property, corporate finance, B-BBEE, mergers and acquisitions, and the structuring and restructuring of businesses.
Mr Richards regularly advises prominent listed and private companies across a broad range of industries, including finance, manufacturing, mining, construction, technology, and other private sector enterprises.
With experience spanning multiple jurisdictions, including South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Eswatini, Mr Richards brings a practical, commercially focused approach to legal advisory services. He is recognised for strong leadership, strategic management skills, and the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with clients and fellow legal professionals.
