Qualifications:

BCom (cum laude), LLB (cum laude) (University of KwaZulu-Natal).

Service on boards and associations: Samantha manages the Durban Chapter of the Pension Lawyers Association (PLA) and was elected Vice-Chair and Treasurer of the Northern Region of the PLA in 2006. She is the PLA's representative on the Legal and Technical Committee of the Institute of Retirement Funds (IRF) and a member of the Principal Officers Association (POA). Samantha is Chairperson of several Section 15K surplus tribunals appointed by the Financial Services Board and has given numerous presentations on pension law and related issues at seminars hosted by Black Lawyers Association, IRF, PLA and POA. She is also an annual contributor to "The Manual on South African Retirement Funds and other Employee Benefits".

History:

Samantha acts as principal officer for a number of large self-administered funds. Apart from advising on pension issues and representing employers and funds in legal proceedings in court and pension fund adjudicator cases, she has a wealth of practical experience concerning fund management, duties of trustees, surplus apportionment and related issues.
