History:

Nigel Woodroffe joined the partnership in 1989 and headed the Employment Law department for a number of years before he was elected as Managing Partner of Shepstone & Wylie in July 2005. This decision was taken due to the fact that there had been tremendous growth in the business and it had become increasingly difficult to manage the firm efficiently without a Managing Partner. After two decades of dedicated service as Managing Partner, Nigel transitioned into the role of Consultant at Shepstone & Wylie Attorneys with effect from 1 September 2025.

Nigel served as an acting judge in the Labour Court in March 2003. He is one of only two attorneys from KwaZulu-Natal to be invited to act at this time, the first having been Martin Oosthuizen, a former member of our Employment Law department.
