Wernher is a highly experienced litigator with a reputation for decisive, results-driven legal representation. He specialises in High Court litigation, including divorces, liquidations, sequestrations, and complex commercial and civil disputes.
In addition, he has extensive expertise in the administration of deceased estates, wills, curatorships, trusts and commercial transactions.
With over 27 years’ experience in practice, Wernher brings deep legal insight and practical judgment to every matter he handles.
He matriculated at Groote Schuur High School, Newlands, Cape Town in 1987 and commenced his legal studies at the University of Stellenbosch in 1988, where he obtained his BA (Law) and LLB degrees. He later completed a Certificate in the Administration of Deceased Estates through UNISA.
Wernher began his professional career in the legal department of Santam Insurance in Cape Town, where he rose to the position of Claims Manager. In 1996, he joined Visagie Vos Attorneys, Cape Town as a candidate attorney, whereafter he was admitted as an attorney in 1998 and became a partner in 2000. In 2003, he entered into partnership with Hannes Pretorius, with whom he continues to practise to date.
Beyond his legal practice, Wernher is deeply involved in community and leadership initiatives. In 2013, he received the Caring for Sharing Award from the Helderberg Society for the Aged after successfully raising more than R500,000 for the organisation.

Wernher is a keen golfer who values the camaraderie and discipline of the sport.
In his younger years, he also played first-league rugby for the University of Stellenbosch, Hamiltons, Gordon’s Bay, and Helderberg.
