Jennifer is a commercial, compliance and competition lawyer. She has assisted local and multinational clients with complaint investigations by the Competition authorities, regularly deals with merger filings and advises on antitrust compliance issues. Jennifer is experienced in negotiating and drafting a wide range of contracts and has extensive specialist experience in the ports sector and in the logistics (both road and rail and warehousing agreements), automotive and sugar industries. Jennifer has dealt extensively with terminal operator licences, leases, concessions and tenders in the port space, both locally and in other African ports.
Jennifer has extensive experience in acting for counterparties in port related agreements and licences with Transnet National Ports Authority, a division of Transnet SOC Limited. Jennifer also advises clients regularly in relation to the National Ports Act and has recently participated in revision of proposed amendments to that Act and the regulations proposed by the Department of Transport. In every contract, Jennifer focuses on plain English drafting and creating user friendly practical contracts.
Jennifer has a strong interest in financial intelligence and data privacy compliance law. She has developed compliance documents, policies and training required in relation to the Financial Intelligence Centre Act and the Protection of Personal Information Act and has assisted a number of clients with investigations by the Financial Intelligence Centre.
Mediation Experience
Jennifer is an internationally accredited mediator by the Centre for Dispute resolution (CEDR), the largest independent dispute resolution body in Europe.
Her particular interest in the mediation field lies in competition, compliance, sugar, shipping and logistics.
