Abel Daniël Petrus Bester was the founder of Abel Bester Attorneys in 1978 after he completed his studies through UNISA. His goal was to establish a small firm for the people, where the public would not feel like a file reference but that a personal relationship between attorney and client would be established. Jakomarié Bester, his daughter, started as article clerk on 2 December 1992 and took partnership in 1987.   Abel Bester passed away on 13 July 1999 and Jakomarié Bester took over the company.
