History:
Mr du Plessis has been in legal practice and in the employ of Richard Meaden & Associates since 2011. Mr du Plessis enjoys broad Superior and Lower Court litigation and criminal procedure experience.
Over and above this, Mr du Plessis has also acquired exposure and experience regarding:
- Full spectrum professional services to Residential Estates;
- Specialised Commercial Crimes Court matters;
- Debt collection process on behalf of commercial clients;
- Insolvency/ liquidation and sequestration process;
- Local Authority dispute resolution process;
- Structuring of Company and Shareholding instruments and company law compliance and dispute resolution
- Customs and Excise litigation, including Applications on Motion and Trials in rescission action, dispute resolution processes, including responses to Letters of Intent, Internal Administrative Appeals and withdrawal of Letters of Demand. Making representations to SARS Customs on behalf of clients, including Applications for Suspension of Payment. Obtaining release of detained and seized container consignments and in taking adverse decisions by authorities on successful review, including on the production of information and requests for reasons for decisions in terms of the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act
Mr du Plessis also acquired vast knowledge in respect of Customs and Excise matters. Mr du Plessis was one of the instructing attorneys on behalf of Dragon Freight (Pty) Ltd & Others v The Commissioner of the South African Revenue Services & Others which resulted in a reported decision – Dragon Freight (Pty) Ltd & Others v The Commissioner of the South African Revenue Services (13585/20) [2020] ZAGPPHC 745; [2021] 1 All SA 883 (GP) (11 December 2020).
