Jacob Nkate LLB (Edin) is an Attorney duly admitted to the High Court in Botswana. He graduated from the University of Botswana with two years Laws in University of Edinburgh in the 1986.
He has been a key player in the formative period of Botswana and Botswana’s economy. He worked as a magistrate before moving onto private practice. His own law firm, J.D Nkate and Associates was well established in Selebi Phikwe and Maun.
Mr. Nkate entered politics in 1994 as Member of Parliament and remained in that role until 2009. During his 15 years as a Member of Parliament he was a Cabinet Minister for 13 years. He began as Deputy Minister at The Ministry of Finance, then he was appointed Cabinet Minister of Trade, Lands and Housing before he took over and steered The Minister of Education.
Subsequently he became CEO of the Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority (BEDIA) which controlled the Foreign Direct Investment of Billions of Pula into Botswana’s business sector. He recently returned from Japan where he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of The Republic of Botswana to join us a Consultant based in our offices
