History:

Richard Meaden ("Richard") graduated from Rhodes University BA LLB and thereafter pursued post-graduate and higher diplomas in Maritime Law and Advanced Company Law from the Universities of Natal and Witwatersrand respectively. Richard served his articles initially at Cuzen & Woods Attorneys, where he gained substantial experience in personal injury litigation, and thereafter at B J R Burt Attorneys.

He was admitted as an attorney in January 1995, appointed as a Professional Assistant in that year and became a partner with the firm in 1996. In 2000 the firm changed its name to Burt Meaden Attorneys. Richard's practice primarily consists of superior and lower court litigation with a special emphasis on commercial and civil matters.

Richard is experienced in a wide range of litigation matters, both in South African and foreign courts and in arbitrations both within South Africa and internationally. Richard has gained a reputation in the legal industry for providing a sound and efficient service to his clients which range from the private individual to multi-national corporations.
