Phiwe completed her LL.B. in 2012, and went on to graduate with an LL.M. in Maritime Law from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2013. In 2014, she was awarded a scholarship from the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) to study a MSc in Maritime Law and Policy at the World Maritime University in Sweden. During her time of study Phiwe worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Unit of Maritime Law at UKZN and was a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. At the World Maritime University in Sweden, she was the Policy Officer on the Executive Committee of the WMU Women’s Association. In 2016, Phiwe joined Cox Yeats as part of the Maritime Team and has experience in litigation, ship arrests, international trade law, security and port matters.
