Steven Yeates, based in Cape Town, is a partner in the Trade Mark Litigation Department and is currently one of four partners heading up the Anti-Counterfeiting team.
Steven holds BCom and LLB degrees from the University of Johannesburg and is a qualified attorney and trade mark practitioner with 13 years’ experience. He is a member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces as well as a fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law. He serves as a committee member on the Institute’s Counterfeit Goods Committee.
Steven is actively involved in creating, implementing and managing tailor made anti-counterfeiting programmes and strategies on behalf of our international and local clients in a number of African countries. He is regularly called upon to present training seminars to members of the South African Police Force and the South African Revenue Service, Customs and Excise.
Steven is a co-author of the Practitioner’s Guide to Intellectual Property Law in South Africa, published by LexisNexis and has been listed on an ongoing basis as one of the World’s Leading Trade Mark Professionals in the WTR 1000 since 2011.
