Dr Hans H Hahn obtained a Dr. rer. nat. (cum laude) at the Technical University of Karlsruhe (petrochemistry, fuel technology, chemical engineering). He is an international intellectual property adviser to several multinational companies, and is actively engaged in technical consulting, industrial development, licensing, applied R&D, invention development and technology transfer and also specialises in advising on, co-ordinating and preparing technical evidence for local and international litigation.
His technical fields of experience include chemistry (including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, petrochemistry); chemical engineering; conventional and alternative energy; natural and synthetic oils; bituminous substances; wood and pulp technologies; mining, prospecting, and mineral beneficiation; metallurgy; separation methods and apparatus; ecology; energy saving and industrialised buildings.
Hans is fluent in English, German, Afrikaans and Dutch, and has a reading knowledge of French. One of his special interests is translating, and he has built up a legal and technical translation practice.
Current activities involve major litigation in the fields of patents, copyright, trademarks, unlawful competition and related areas; drafting and prosecution of patent applications internationally; international intellectual property consulting and all aspects of technology transfer.
